Wrong motives / Motivos errados

Prayer is highly underestimated. It’s not because people don’t have faith or any sort of devotion. They just don’t know whom they call when there’s nothing else to do anymore.

A oração é muito subestimada. Não é por que as pessoas não têm fé ou nenhum tipo de devoção. Elas apenas não sabem mais quem elas chamam quando não há mais nada a fazer.

Fake fragility / Falsa fragilidade

It was at that moment that a spider web showed as being the most resistent material available of them all. They heard the voices of those who plot, talking about the fragility of the lines, while its weaver highly articulated strolls quietly as if it was stepping on small spots of air. They say that the spaces left by the web were like small squares that would frame the scene at the back that nobody didn't see before.

Foi naquele momento que a teia de aranha mostrou-se o mais resistentes dos materiais disponíveis. Ouve as vozes dos que conspiravam, dizendo da fragilidade dos fios, enquanto seu tecelão amplamente articulado passeia calado como que pisando em pequenos pontos de ar. Dizem que os espaços que a teia formava era como pequenas molduras que enquadravam a cena ao fundo que antes ninguém via.

They are all around / Eles estão em todo o lugar

Fernando Pessoa said that, while navigating is highly precise, there’s no precision in the living. People explore the world of signs and they understand that they’re all around. One particular sign would rule even the most complex mind just by the moral concept behind that determines where to go. Indications, words, drawings, lights – they encompass a wide range of types of orientation. A sign is not about what to do or to go. Each action itself carries its opposite, therefore, a sign will show to those who dwell in the words a whole world of things that aren’t done for a reason. If we imagine the traffic sign “go”, we’ll understand it better. The sign says “go”, so it means you can proceed, move from your original place to another one. At the same time, the sign is saying “don’t stay put” which implies that you can’t stand still or simply do nothing. That’s the way the world goes round.

Fernando Pessoa disse que, enquanto navegar é altamente preciso, viver não é preciso. As pessoas exploram o mundo dos sinais e elas entendem que eles estão em todo o lugar. Um sinal em particular controlaria até a mente mais complexa apenas pelo conceito moral por trás que determina onde se ir. Indicações, palavras, desenhos, luzes – elas compreendem uma ampla gama de tipos de orientação. Um sinal não se resume ao que fazer ou ir. Cada ação carrega consigo seu oposto, portanto, um sinal mostrará para aqueles que habitam nas palavras um novo mundo de coisas que não são feitas por alguma razão. Se imaginarmos o sinal de trânsito “siga”, nós entenderemos isso melhor. O sinal diz “siga”, que significa que você pode prosseguir, deslocar-se de seu lugar original para outro. Ao mesmo tempo, o sinal está dizendo “não fique parado”, o que implica em não ficar imóvel ou simplesmente não fazer nada. É assim que o mundo gira.

Focus / Foco

It’s not easy to see the city almost going out of focus behind the river. At the same time, it’s not easy either to see the river when buildings, the bridge and the streets at the back distract you from seeing something that might be unusual on the water. To say that it depends on your look would be an obvious remark. Expect the unexpected is creating an empty generalization. The concept of oscillation comes to my mind when a moving focus like a movie camera that tell us not just the perspective of what we see, but the view of our look – would that be a meta focus?

Não é fácil ver a cidade quase saindo do foco atrás do rio. Ao mesmo tempo, não é fácil também ver o rio quando os prédios, a ponte e as ruas no fundo distraem você de ver alguma coisa que pode ser estranha n água. Dizer que depende do seu olhar seria um comentário óbvio. Esperar o inesperado é criar uma generalização vazia. O conceito de oscilação vem à minha mente quando um foco se move como a câmera de um filme que nos conta não apenas a perspectiva do que nós vemos, mas a visão do nosso olhar – seria isso um meta foco?

Sometimes the idea of going up is not to see what is far away, but to see through another viewpoint, ergo, we don’t become superior, but we develop new foci.

Às vezes, a ideia de subir não é para ver o que está longe, mas para ver através de um outro ponto de vista, logo, nós não nos tornamos superiores, mas desenvolvemos novos focos.

World is fading fast / O mundo está definhando rapidamente

In times like this when so many people try to put in doubt principles that were supposed to be permanent and start to raise questions to turn what is sacred and morally correct ineffective, the real challenge is not to begin a revolution or leave the social ostracism to complain about the government or public services. It is the cold terrorism (not the one that is happening in the Middle East) that made us unemotional and therefore incapable of accepting what was wisely given to us. People's nature has been changing and and they have developed a treacherous character that denies their own past and worries only with their own satisfaction, no matter what takes to achieve that. Those are dangerous people - they don't want to know about what used to be the right thing to do and they don't care about what it's been broken on the way.

Em tempos como este, quando tantas pessoas tentam por em dúvida princípios que eram para ser permanentes e começam a levantar questões para tornar sem efeito que é sagrado e moralmente correto, o verdadeiro desafio não é começar uma revolução ou sair do ostracismo social para reclamar do governo ou serviços públicos. É o terrorismo frio (não aquele que está acontecendo no Oriente Médio) que nos tornou destituídos de sentimento e, portanto, incapazes de aceitar o que foi sabiamente dado para nós. A natureza das pessoas está mudando e elas desenvolveram um caráter pérfido que nega seu próprio passado e preocupa-se somente com a satisfação própria, não importa o que for preciso para alcançar isso. Estas são pessoas perigosas - elas não querem saber o que costumava ser o certo a ser feito e não se importam com o que é violado nesse caminho.
